For this album I really wanted to strip back my sound and return to a more bare bones approach to music making. I was inspired by folk music and storytelling through song and wanted the album's lyrical content to reflect that. The overarching theme of the album is running away and escaping and learning that nobody is coming to save you and you have to do it yourself. Black cats, butterflies, letter bombs and other symbols of spiritual psychosis and superstition feature throughout.
